The Village| Motherhood Support and Skills Group| Lunenburg, NS
What to ExpectThe historic building smells like old wood and times gone by. You have a fresh latte from the coffee shop a block over in one hand, and your baby in their carseat cradled in your other elbow. You go up the stairs, round the corner and feel instantly at home with familiar faces happy to see you and support you on your motherhood journey. This is The Village.
❋ Intentional StructureEvery week has a theme or intention with education and conversation on that topic before the floor is open to sharing and support.
❋ Collaborative EnergyKelly may facilitate the group, but you will be the heart and soul of it. We will talk about how best you can be supported and tailor topics to the group. Babies are welcome and encouraged to attend!
❋ Expert FacilitationKelly is a RCT-C and completed her Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Training and co-founded the South Shore Perinatal Collective with other clinicians.
❋ A Supportive SpaceThe most important part of this group is the support piece. Too often therapy is geared towards mother-blaming. None of that will happen here. There is no harder job in the world, and you will get support for that here.
You have never been this version of you before. Get support, skills and friendship as you go along your journey into motherhood.
What to ExpectFind Your Village in Lunenburg, NS
As everyone arrives, we take time to settle in, get comfortable, and begin connecting with those around us. The journey starts here.
September 29, 2026September 15, 2026Week One: Naming Where You Actually Are
Intention: get honest about the current reality — the exhaustion, the identity shift, the gap between what motherhood was supposed to feel like and what it actually feels like — without judgment or comparison. This week sets the tone: this is a space for what's true, not what's expected.
September 22, 2026Week Two: The Identity Shift
Intention: explore who you were before motherhood and who you're becoming, and normalize that losing track of yourself in this stage isn't a failure — it's close to universal. Begin separating "what I've lost" from "what I actually want to reclaim."
October 6, 2026Week Four: Relationships Under Pressure
Intention: look at how motherhood has shifted your relationships — with a partner, with friends, with family — and where those relationships are supporting you versus quietly draining you. Build one concrete ask or boundary to bring into a real relationship this week.
Week Three: The Mental Load
Intention: name the invisible labour — tracking, anticipating, managing — that's often the most exhausting part of motherhood and the least visible to everyone else. Build language for identifying it and communicating it, rather than carrying it silently.
October 13, 2026Week Five: Rest, Guilt, and Permission
Intention: address the guilt that shows up around rest, needs, and asking for help, and separate genuine responsibility from inherited, unnecessary guilt. Practice identifying one real need and voicing it without over-explaining or apologizing for it.
October 13, 2026Week Six: Moving Forward on Purpose
Intention: consolidate what's shifted over the five weeks into a concrete, sustainable plan — specific supports, boundaries, and practices you're keeping going after the group ends. Close with a clear sense of what "on purpose" looks like for this next stage, rather than defaulting back into autopilot.
